Going Global! I’m Expanding to Singapore
Today marks another huge milestone for my company with the expansion into Singapore and welcoming the newest coach to my team, Katherine Hansen. It has been a busy year to say the least, with the expansion a few months ago into Australia with coach, Sarah Angliss but I couldn’t be more proud to share this with all of you!
I am sure you are asking why Singapore? Well, for a few reasons. Living in the Cayman Islands, I have learned a lot about expat communities. Throw in working as a busy business professional and being a mother, there is so much that I can offer and also relate to for women in this demographic. Katherine, a Canadian herself and someone I had the chance to cross paths with since we worked at the same gym while in Canada, understands this lifestyle just the same. Moving to Singapore as an expat, working as a teacher for an international school of expat children, attending many social events and a travel blogger, our similarities relate well to women/mothers/business professionals.
I had a chance to quickly interview Katherine this week before I headed to Canada and her to Bali this weekend. What is your main goal with coaching services in Singapore?
One of the things I love most about my profession is that I get an opportunity to help kids develop healthy habits at such a young age. I learned late in life the correlation between eating healthy and staying active and the immense impact it could have on quality of life. My main goal is to help others in Singapore, to be able to share some of the passion I have for living a healthy lifestyle. I not only want to be a support person for others, I also want to learn from them. Everyone is on a journey, everyone has something to offer, and I would love to be a part of it!
What do you plan on doing with your coaching services there?
My coaching services will be very similar to the coaching services that Sarah Angliss offers in Australia. Working closely under the guidance of Nadine we would offer personalized nutrition and exercise training programs carefully planned to suit individual needs. Since I am living and working in Singapore, I hope to offer the kind of support that women might need. Whether you’re an expat living abroad, working professional, or a full-time mom, I can provide accountability, a shoulder to lean on and encouragement to be the best you can be!
With your background as a teacher, lover of fitness and an active lifestyle etc, how do you plan to apply all this to your coaching?
I love learning about other people and I truly love learning from others. I really feel that coaching is a two-way street. I think that when you’re in something together you’re always going to be more successful. Knowing that you have someone you can count on is so important. Especially someone you can relate to, who knows what it’s like to make lifestyle changes, and someone who has been in a similar place. I am your cheerleader, coach, support person, workout buddy and someone willing to listen.
Why did you choose to work under Nadine? What did you see in her coaching that intrigued you?
Even though Nadine and I didn’t end up actually connecting when we were at the same gym in Calgary, I was most impressed by her drive. I admired her ability to reach out and build relationships with her clients. She had a huge social media presence and following, yet was so down to earth and relatable. I was drawn to Nadine by her focus on creating a lifestyle that was manageable for everyone. As I worked with Nadine and got to know her even better, I learned her attitude towards life in general was something that I was striving for. She has such a positive outlook, she is focused on healthy body image, and she has a realistic idea of the daily struggles that every woman faces.
What’s next for you?
I am so enjoying my life living abroad. My husband Thomas and I couldn’t be happier living in Singapore and I can honestly say I have no regrets. I’m growing professionally in my career as a lead teacher at the international school I work at. We are trying to live life to its fullest, traveling as much as possible and obviously taking care of our health. We are honestly loving every moment of it and can’t help feeling fortunate for where our path has taken us. We are still trying to blog as much as possible and hopefully at the least, inspire others to the take the plunge and start to travel. It’s a risk, but it’s so worth it.
