Why I went back to school
2016 was a very pivotal year for me professionally. I did a lot of thinking that year in terms of what I wanted to do ‘next’! As I continued to coach my clients and run my 13th and 14th transformation challenge I started to realize that I needed to do more with my clients and offer them a new style of coaching. I wanted to offer something completely different from what they have experienced in the past when working with other coaches and even with myself.
That was when I found the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, it was EXACTLY what I was looking to offer. That fall I started the course despite my heavy client load, raising a little one, traveling, shooting and building the luxury and wellness retreat. It was tough and trying at times but every module I found myself nodding my head in agreeance as I was listening to the lectures. This was EXACTLY what my clients (and everyone, really) needs.
The Institute for the Psychology of Eating is a holistic nutritional healing movement that’s changing the way we understand food, weight, body image, holistic nutrition, and health. The diet industry is a $65 billion dollar industry with a 95% failure rate. Its not us that are the failures, its the industry failing us. The industry would not be as profitable as it is if it allowed you to succeed, so I have taken a new stance on working with my clients at a much deeper level. Getting to the root of all issues and when I say root, I mean the deep, dark moments in our lives that we have suppressed for so sooooo long. The majority of my work involves weight loss, body image, chronic dieting, binge eating, compulsive eating and our digestive health, just to name a few BUT this doesn’t mean I am going to stop what I have been doing for the past 10 years. This just means that I am able to add a new element to our work together.
I am proud to say that in May I graduated (with honors) from the IPE as an Eating Psychology Practitioner and Mind-Body Nutrition Coach and couldn’t be more proud of achieving this goal. The types of clients I will be working with will not change, I will only be adding to my client list, incorporating in the corporate wellness space (which is for a later blog).
